Sat 17 May 25 - Nagoorin
Weather: 12mm of rain overnight, 14 Deg at 07:00am, becoming clear and reaching a very summer like 29 Deg at 3:00pm - a glorious day in the Boyne Valley.
A bit of a bonding day with my brother Steven, doing a little bit of van maintenance and just catching up. Had another crack at trying to work out the toilet cassette leaking issue, but it just turned out to be the gift that keeps on giving. Still waiting for the replacement cassette to be delivered to Mum in Gladstone next week. At about 2pm, I decided to make the most of the beaut weather, and sneak out for a quick ride to explore some of the area. The dirt back road from Nagoorin to Ubobo and back turned out to be a little lumpy and bumpy in places, but a very enjoyable ride nonetheless. Tomorrow, we will move on to Gladstone for at least a week for more family catchups.

The 20km ride loop today from Nagoorin along a dirt road to Ubobo and back. The section of Boyne Valley Rail Trail that runs past the front of my brother's home was preferred, but it is still unsealed and very rough, not suitable for my flat bar road bike. When fully developed the trail will be 270km long, but at present there is about 70km open in 2 sections, neither nearby. |
