Wed 14 May 25 - Brewarinna to Nindigully (327km)
Weather: 13 Deg and cloudy at 06:30am, reaching a max of 26 Deg. Light drizzle in the evening
I accidentally dropped (really) the toilet cassette last night and broke the drain spout. That along with the faulty seals convinced me to order a replacement this morning to be delivered to my mother in Gladstone, hopefully next week. Never a dull moment with caravans. After a good sleep, we drove away from Brewarinna at 08:30am. First stop was half way along the Brewarinna - Goodooga Road, to try and capture the beautiful green landscape. They've had a lot of rain in the region and it looks spectacular. We've driven through here a few times, and never seen it looking so lush. Next stop was Goodooga for a late morning cuppa, and a dip in the hot springs. From Goodooga we continued to Hebel on the NSW / QLD border where we stopped for the obligatory pub photo, before continuing to Dirranbandi for lunch. It was easy to tell that we had crossed into QLD, because the roads deteriorated immediately - the worst we have driven on since leaving home. In Dirranbandi, a visit to the Russian Bakery is always a must, and it didn't disappoint. We then continued along another new road for us to Thallon to the painted silos then drove another 34km north to our final destination for the day, the iconic Nindigully pub and free camp. The Gully located on the banks of the Moonie River is one of Queensland's oldest hotels and is still in its original condition since it began operating in in 1864. Set up less than 100m from the front door, we ventured over for a couple of cleansing ales and dinner, joined by our new best friend parked next door, Bob from Toowoomba who's a bit of a history buff and loves a chat. It's been a great day on the road.
