Day 2: Fri 9 May 25 - Griffith

Fri 9 May 25 - Griffith

Weather: 5 feeling like 2 Deg, mostly clear reaching 22 Deg, no wind.

[A day late]
The day started very fresh but I soon warmed up after an early 5km walk. Noel and I headed into town to meet Noel's brother Rob and wife Pam for coffee, then we spent the rest of the day together catching up. After lunch Rob and I visited the Hermit's Cave and lookout on the ridge of Scenic Hill with views across the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area farmland. The Hermit's Cave, located beneath the lookout, was once the home of Valerio Ricetti, a miner from Broken Hill who lived the life of a hermit in his cave on Scenic Hill for many years. A keen gardener, Valerio transformed the rocky escarpment and created dry-stone walls, paths and stone steps creating access to areas that he called, the Garden, the Chapel and the Main Cave. Meanwhile, Noel and Pam went off to visit Pam’s mum - Nana Mac who turns 100 in a little over 2 weeks time. Dinner tonight was a mini Wilson reunion with three of Noeleene’s brothers, and families joining us for dinner at the Leagues club.  The food was average, but it was nice to catch up with everyone after not seeing each other for a couple of years. All in all, an enjoyable day.
